SCHOLAR OF THE WEEK
Cate Salters, Junior
Cate has been exploring the world of entrepreneurship since the start of the school year. She started Sunrise Coffee, which caters to the teachers of the district 3 days a week. Cate also had her coffee at a football game and a volleyball game for free will donation. She has gone through the process of taking out a loan to start her business, buy her supplies, marketing her product, and repaying her loan. This has been a fun and exciting venture for Cate. Cate has decided to donate her profits to organizations that help the blind and visually impaired. Thank you to Cate for bringing a little bit of sunshine in the forms of coffee and smiles to our schools!
- Kara Buechle, Resource teacher
Cate is positive and has an upbeat personality. I appreciate how she greets classmates and teachers with a smile. Cate always gets her work done on time, and she continues to grow and improve in many ways in class - asking questions and working with her classmates. Cate showed strength while working in teams during English class. She was a cheerful, helpful, and contributing group member. Thanks for your positive attitude and kind personality, Cate!- Samantha Hand, English Teacher
If I had to describe Cate in one word, it would certainly be joyful. She is positive, sweet, and spreads her joy to all around her. I am also so proud of the work she is doing in my Speech and Theater class. She was wonderful when we completed our Duet Improv unit, and it is not easy! She had to listen closely to her partner and use that to guide where she would go with her words, tone, and actions. Her presentation speech was also fantastic! However, her shining moment came when she delivered her Poetry Outloud performance. She chose "My Loves" by Langston Hughes, and she worked so hard to memorize the entire poem. She delivered it perfectly: word for word and with such heartfelt emotion. The entire class cheered. You are awesome Cate and certainly deserving to be the Scholar of the Week!
